Last weekend a friend and I drove 30 minutes south of the city for a day hike in Pacifica. A known surfers destination, the sweeping coastline and massive waves were breathtaking. It was a perfect mini escape from the city during a renewing girls' weekend while M was out of town.
From the San Pedro Valley Park trail head, we hiked the 3.5 mile ascending Montara Mountain trail, through a eucalyptus forest and high into the hills with gorgeous views of the Pacifica coastline. I believe we climbed an additional 1 mile to the summit, before retracing our steps downhill to the car. It was a nice workout that made the post-hike beers at Half Moon Bay Brewing Co. feel totally earned.
