Decking the Halls

November 29, 2015

Time for a little holiday cheer! Though our post-Thanksgiving weekend tradition of picking out a tree and decorating the home is in its fifth year, this was a first for our SF chapter. The setting is much different than last year, but I am thankful that M and I are adaptable and create a cozy home anywhere we live.

The Christmas lights and bountiful candles inject warmth in the short, dark days. I am happy for this time of year to count blessings, share gifts, and embrace family.

September and October flew! Here are few nice moments I captured over the past two months. There is always more outside the frame.

24 Hours at Dillon Beach

October 18, 2015

Camping with friends at Dillon Beach was just what I needed this weekend! The 24 hour escape from the city helped shake the stress from a busy work week. We enjoyed fresh oysters delivered to the camp site, yummy seasonal beers around the fire, and lots of laughter in a big tent.

Fall in Pennsylvania

October 6, 2015

Last weekend we headed east for our good friends' wedding in Sewickley, Pennsylvania. I was thankful to be the plus-one to the most dapper groomsman. Fall in Pennsylvania is beautiful -- it reminded me of my first two years of college in Ohio.

Apple Tart

I roughly assembled the following ingredients, then baked the 'tart' at 400 degrees for 20 minutes. An easy, semi-homemade treat to beat the Monday blues.

2 apples, thinly sliced
1 pre-made pie crust, laid flat
brown sugar
pure maple syrup (drizzle)
cinnamon
salt (pinch)

Bristol Rhythm & Roots 2015

September 23, 2015

Description of Photo Last weekend I visited Bristol via Nashville for the 15th annual Bristol Rhythm and Roots Reunion music festival. The festival brings Americana (and soul, rock, country, blues...) music to my hometown, and is also truly a reunion for family and friends. After missing the festival for the past four years, I was excited to finally return.

I proudly watched my parents perform (Dad on fiddle with the old-time jam, and Mom on bass with My New Favorites), caught a couple old favorites, and discovered new bands to add to my queue. Here's a taste of the tunes I enjoyed in the Birthplace of Country Music.

Labor Day Weekend in Tahoe

September 8, 2015

We headed to Tahoe for an impromptu Labor Day Weekend escape. I was too busy biking, kayaking, walking, and exploring (being present) to take many photos, which was the best way to spend a relaxing long weekend.

This & That

August 26, 2015

In July and August, I worked hard organizing stunning homes, went on several local weekend adventures, and continued feeling more at ease in this new city. I also exhausted my nerves with a job interview or two. The huge geographical distance between my family and me was highlighted a few frustrating times in the past two months, but I am choosing to practice gratitude for being where I am.

Here are few pretty moments I've captured over the past two months. There is always more outside the frame.

Video | Lake Tahoe

August 17, 2015

We were invited to join a few friends in North Lake Tahoe last weekend, and had a blast hiking, swimming (brrr!), paddle boarding, and relaxing by the water. Tahoe's water is stunningly clear, and the views made me feel further than the four hour drive from the city.  M and I are already planning our next visit while it's still warm, and also eagerly await ski season in the mountains.

Evening Walks in Pac Heights

A walk throughout the steep hills of our adjacent neighborhood is a nice way to wind down in the evenings. I enjoy watching the setting sunlight grace the grand homes.

Mom's SF Visit

August 6, 2015

Description of Photo Description of Photo Description of Photo Last weekend my mom flew in for a San Francisco visit. I always cherish one-on-one time with my mama, and it was especially fun to explore my new city together. We hiked and ate and drank and explored, and of course four days flew too fast.

Some of my favorite moments include:
Sunset walks around Pac Heights hills, Mitchell's fro-yo, hiking around Mt. Tam, Ferry Marketplace building, Mill Valley favorite Sol Food, downtown shopping, vegan Mexican lunch at Gracias Madre with my cousin, Off the Grid for Sunday Funday, exploring Land's End, Rodin bronze sculptures at the Legion of Honor, fresh meals at home, and evening laughs courtesy of Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee.

I appreciate mom's dedication to regular visits in each town we live, which makes the distance bearable. THANK YOU, MAMA! xo
